Contributor Guidelines

Fashion, beauty and lifestyle writing for InHauteCouture — and how to pitch it.

What The Journal is

The Journal is InHauteCouture’s editorial voice — where the occasion, the dressing, and the world around it are written about with taste. We publish fashion, beauty and lifestyle pieces that all orbit one idea: the moments people dress for.

The exchange

Contributors write for the love of the subject and the reach of the platform. In return you receive a byline, a profile in The Collective with your social links, a backlink to your own work, and — where it fits — product credit. Standout contributors become regulars.

Our voice

  • Assured, never breathless. We state; we don’t hype.
  • Specific over generic — a real dress, a real occasion, a real detail.
  • Warm and human, but edited. Short sentences earn their place.
  • British spelling. No emojis, no exclamation marks.

What we commission

  • Fashion — occasion dressing, silhouette and styling, trend read-throughs tied to real events.
  • Beauty — event beauty: hair, skin and finishing touches for weddings, parties and premieres.
  • Lifestyle — the world around the occasion: travel, hosting, and the season’s social calendar.

Do

  • Anchor every piece to an occasion or a real moment.
  • Name specifics — fabrics, silhouettes, places, references.
  • Write for a reader who has taste and little time.
  • Bring your own point of view; we want a voice, not a summary.

Please avoid

  • Generic listicles with no occasion or reason to exist.
  • Hype language, hard-sell, or hollow superlatives.
  • Unattributed claims or lifted copy — everything must be yours.
  • Beauty or lifestyle that doesn’t tie back to how people dress and gather.

How to pitch

Send two or three ideas — a working title and a line on the angle for each — plus links to a couple of published pieces. Apply through Join the Collective and choose “Writer / Contributor”. We read every pitch and reply to the ones that fit the house.
